Bodymind coaching questions
Where and how often do we meet?
Sessions happen online over Zoom. I also run face to face workshops in my local area (please contact me if you'd like to schedule a breathing education, breathwork or meditation workshop for your business). The frequency of our sessions is up to you. I will make recommendations after your initial session with me based on your desired outcomes. However, all decisions will ultimately be up to you. Pain coaching is usually more extensive than breath re-education, which usually takes place over a few as 4 to 5 sessions. Please note that my personal availability is quite limited as I currently care for a young child and can only schedule clients around my husband's work hours.

What will you require from me?
You will need to have ruled out infection, cancer or an autoimmune disease / condition that requires medical intervention before working with me. This sort of work is also not for people who have had a severe injury in the past 4-6 months and are still doing physical therapy. Once we get started, I ask that you arrive with an open mind and a willingness to engage in activities both in and out of session. You are likely to be given tasks to complete between sessions in both the breath re-education work and the pain reprocessing work - which may take up to 20 to 30 minutes a day. If undertaking pain reprocessing work, you will require an openness to discuss how stress can contribute to pain and to undertake introspective work relating to your personal and emotional life. This work is NOT for people who are looking for a purely physical solution to their pain or other symptoms.

Can you guarantee my chronic pain, or other medical condition, will be cured?
No, I cannot guarantee your condition will be cured - and you really should be skeptical of anyone who claims that they can guarantee that. Chronic pain, and other chronic conditions, are individual experiences and outcomes will vary. Outcomes will also vary depending on the amount of effort you are willing to put in.
Everybody’s situation is different, so I focus on quality of life and well-being. When that happens, pain tends to reduce according to the research.

How does this work with my medical care?
This is not a substitute for medical or mental health care. In fact, you should receive approval from your doctor before you commence working with me - this includes ruling out any serious medical conditions. I am not a medical doctor or a mental healthcare provider and I do not provide medical advice, diagnose, prescribe medications, or provide guidance on the usage of medications. I provide information and education only and all decisions regarding your health and wellbeing are ultimately your responsibility. Please note, because I am not a certified mental health provider, I am ethically bound to refer clients to therapists, or other certified mental health providers, if there are any signals that your mental wellbeing is a concern.

Can I access Medicare rebates?
Unfortunately, my offerings are not covered by Medicare. I am happy to organise payment plans.

Why do you require a longer intake session for pain coaching?
I offer a free 15m discovery call to see if we are a 'good fit' together. Once you decide to work with me, it's important that we go through your history of medical care, diagnoses and treatments to 'rule in' bodymind etiology before embarking on this form of coaching/guide work. Disclosure is completely up to you, but it will give us the fullest picture of whether your issue is likely to respond to bodymind work.

Are there any contraindications for breathwork?
There are many different breathwork approaches that can help you achieve the goals you’re working toward and it is important to note that breathwork has been deemed safe by the scientific and medical community as long as you are fit to practice. Breathwork can result in intense physical and emotional release. Major contraindications are a history of cardiovascular disease, including angina or heart attack, high blood pressure, use of a pacemaker, pregnancy, glaucoma, retinal detachment, osteoporosis, significant recent physical injuries or surgery. In most cases, it is still possible to participate in slower forms of breathwork, including most Buteyko exercises. However, modifications will need to be made. I strongly advise you to consult with your healthcare providers and inform me of any health concerns before participating in a breathwork session.

Are your services confidential?
All sessions are confidential and I will not share the content of our sessions with anyone else.
The only time I would need to consider making a disclosure would be if I believed you were at serious risk of harming yourself or another person or if a child is at serious risk of harm.

How much do you charge?
I charge $130 AUD per hour or $175 for the longer intake session of 90 minutes.

Do I have to pay via the website? What if I have to miss a session I've paid for?
I take website bookings on Calendly and upfront payment via Stripe to cut down on administrative tasks and scheduling mishaps. Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time set aside especially for you, a minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for rescheduling or cancellation of an appointment. If you cancel, I will arrange for a refund from Stripe to be issued. Please note that this can take some time. If for any reason a session is cancelled less than 24 hours prior, the full fee will be charged. I will make exceptions for extraordinary circumstances.
